The Director General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, Francisco Espejo, today presented the Blue Flag-2009 at the coastal municipalities of the Region, and this summer adds one more than last year to Cartagena, the beach of Cavanna in La Manga.

Thus, the municipality of Cartagena beaches have received Blue Flag this year are Levante Cabo de Palos Cala del Pino and Cavanna in La Manga, Mar de Cristal, Playa Honda, Minor Islands and Cala Cortina.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSURANCE CERTIFICATE
The Blue Flag is an award given for 23 years by the Foundation for Environmental Education (ADEAC), through its representative in Spain, the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education.
This will take into account various aspects such as the quality of bathing water, provision of cleaning services, rescue and first aid, access for the disabled and the provision of environmental education activities, among others.
For these awards the coastal municipalities must send their requests each season to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, which is responsible for matters before the body providing them.
This year in the Region of Murcia have achieved Blue Flag 15 beaches and a marina in the municipalities of Cartagena, Mazarrón and Aguilas.
The latter, as in the case of Cartagena, has also added a flag more than last year, has gone to the beach of Delicias.
Now, these municipalities have awarded the label must indicate mandatory, with appropriate signage, the beginning and end of award winning beaches and present in the vicinity of the mast for Blue Flag, the analytical values of the bathing water achieved periodically by the Ministry of Health.
