After more than five and a half months on strike, the 250 workers who make up the workforce of the company's Spanish Cartagena Zinc (zincs) continue in their struggle to keep their jobs without receiving any collateral and therefore, nine of them are locked since yesterday morning at the Cathedral of Murcia and threaten not to leave unless the regional administration, the Official Credit Institute (ICO) and the company will ensure the early construction of the new company in Los Camachos.

The situation dates back to 2005 when the company acknowledged financial losses and have finally decided to sell the land Torreciega to deal with the creditors' agreement.

Thus, in March of that year, was signed Spanish Feasibility Plan of Zinc 2005-2010 and one year later, on July 4, 2006 agreement was signed by the town planning committee and the Board of Directors for soon after, 13 the same month signed an agreement for the development of Z-sector General Urban Plan of Cartagena, whose main objective was to define the maintenance of industrial activity so that, no jobs at risk.

But the years passed and it was not until 2007 when the workers, and having endured three job layoffs, when they got the support of the Central Government, who unlocked the access to industrial land in the industrial area of Los Camachos.

Two years later, workers still face enormous problems that come true construction of the new factory, while the company suffers from initiatives to rein the project and the regional and local authorities are still not providing the necessary impetus to prevent this business plan is a "simple sale of land" with speculative dyes involve the loss of 250 direct jobs and about 200 indirect jobs.

Moreover, this uncertainty are united in their concern that if the regional and local government does not intervene, are in danger until the compensation to which they are entitled in the event that the business plan does not go forward.
