The Minister of Social Care, Joaquín Bascuñana, together with the Social Care Councillor of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon and regional director of Telefónica in Valencia, Murcia and Illes Baleares, presented this morning in Cartagena Proniño Caravan 2009, which will run until Friday 29 May at the site located in San Juan Street, opposite the Mercado de Santa Florentina.
Proniño is a social action program of the Telefónica Group, managed by the Foundation together with the operators of Telefónica Móviles in its 13 offices in Latin America, which aims to help eradicate child labor in the region, within the goal set by International Labour Organization (ILO), who seek the demise of the worst forms of child labor by 2015, and all child labor by 2020.
It is estimated that over 200 million children worldwide are affected by this problem.
The program starts the second consecutive year and will tour 32 Spanish cities to raise awareness in society and in particular to young people about the problem of child labor, especially in Latin America where Proniño performs an important social work.
