Mirror points out that adherence to this management system "improves the company image to the public in general" |

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Directorate General of Planning, Evaluation and Environmental Control, held today in Cartagena, at the headquarters of the Port Authority, a workshop on the implementation of the System of Environmental Management and Audit (EMAS) Public Institutions.

This system was launched in 1995 for organizations on a voluntary basis, wish to evaluate and improve their performance in this area.

Currently there are 20 organizations in the Region of Murcia EMAS registered in the Register, in sectors such as tourist accommodation, services, laboratories, consulting and catering, among others.

Mirror, said that until now had not done anything informative or promotional information about EMAS Registration facing the public sector, so that "it was considered appropriate to do so, given the need for this sector is a good example of environmental performance all citizens. "

Mirror listed some of the advantages of this system, as the continuous improvement of the company or organization, public communication of their progress through an Environmental Statement which are reflected in all their efforts, and improved control and optimization consumption of raw materials and energy.

It also has other positive aspects such as reducing expenditure on transport, storage and packaging, reducing the risk of accidents and, therefore, of the costs, increased worker training and the adoption of a active policy against the existing legislation and future environmental regulations may affect the company.

The regional director noted that adherence to this system of international environmental management can ultimately "improve the image of the company towards its customers, management, employees, investors, media, advocacy groups environment and the general public. "
