The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, and the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, inaugurated the fair Resources and Services 'Older with Activity', organized by the Department of Social Care through the Instituto Municipal Social Services, John's Square XXIII.
The fair celebrates its third edition and will be held from 15 to 17 May showing the work they have done throughout the year to the biggest 43 clubs belonging to the municipality and Day Centres, over 24 stands.
The fair is intended to encompass those fields: health, cultural, leisure, etc., Of interest to older people, both in public and private, through companies that facilitate the improvement of quality of life of our older.
In the stands will be shown the resources and services that older people can access and a large sample of activities and entities working for the quality of life of older people.
In this sense, the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, said during the presentation of the event will offer information on new services offered by the City Council, such as telecare, catering, home care (Monday to Friday and weekends) and respite care, attended in total at present to about 5,000 seniors.
According to Calderon, the takeout service is being offered and about 120 people, valuing the pension they receive and other circumstances, and our goal is to eliminate the waiting list (there are 50) and serve all who needed.
The fair also has a strong sense of solidarity, and that exhibitors will sell arts and crafts and delicacies prepared by the participants, which may be enjoyed in a tent placed at the end, targeting all proceeds to charity.
CUISINE GUIDE
The typical dishes of our land is one of the cornerstones of the Fair for the Elderly and therefore has developed a Guide II Gastronomic cuisine, a fact the success of last year, devoted exclusively to the field sweets Cartagena.
On this occasion, have collected nearly a hundred recipes to meet our land through its cuisine.
Thus we can find in this Second Wine Guide their history as well as the ingredients that characterize our cuisine, traditional recipes and contributions of our elders who want to preserve and disseminate.
The guide will be available in the stands at the Fair III Resources and Services 'Older with Activity'.
