Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, this morning's exposure Gonzalo Sicre, Cadiz based in Cartagena and one of the greatest exponents of figurative painting in the country, with works in museums around the country.
Montero has been accompanied by the artist and gallery owner Ramon Garcia Alcaraz.
The exhibition is a compilation of the work of the painter in the last twenty years, since he began his artistic career as a professional.
Anyone who wants to understand the complete works of Sicre will cycle through the three exhibition halls in which are arranged various periods and facets of his paintings: the Palace Hall, with a total of twenty tables (one for each year from 1989 to 2009) which represent a chronological sweep of the painter's artistic life, Palace Molina, who introduced a montage almost theatrical and dramatic roles, sketches and other elements that have accompanied these years Sicre, and the Board of the Byzantine walls, which his most recent home with the addition of a video installation to explain the meaning of the paintings in that room.
Three rooms for three artistic concepts that work together to make the viewer understand the whole work of the painter.
Together, the three rooms contained about a hundred pictures, a pictorial evolution that the author has come as a natural way to the technical maturity.
His latest book, which is exhibited in the Byzantine walls, is a reflection of their perception of the passage of time after a trip to India.
Some of the works in this exhibition have been loaned by institutions like the Museum Ivan, of Valencia and the Fundación Caja Madrid and the rest come from private collections.
Gonzalo Sicre is, so far, the only author in the region has had solo exhibitions at the Reina Sofia in Madrid.
He and another painter as Angel Mateo Charris, live and produce their works from Cartagena, a city that has welcomed them and bearing the name all over the country.
This afternoon, at 20 hours, the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro will be responsible for opening the exhibition at the Palace Hall.
