The councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon yesterday visited the headquarters of the Food Bank, a regional organization based in the industrial area of Cartagena Cabezo Beaza and works to prevent hunger in the region.
Calderón was greeted at the Food Bank's premises in the industrial area of Cartagena Cabezo Beaza by its president, Alfonso Torres, and several members of its board, and accompanied the councilman of Social Services of the City of Cartagena on his visit by the facilities , where they were organizing food distribution that does this organization by means of collective social action and immigrants.
Cartagena City Council supports the Food Bank to help immigrants and disadvantaged families to get staples.
In particular, last November were given an injection of 6,000 euros by a collaboration agreement, joining the rest of the government of the Autonomous Community of Murcia in the maintenance of this important social work.
At present the Food Bank of the Region of Murcia supplies staples to 108 groups, soup kitchens, shelters and centers, receiving such support 34,000 beneficiaries, owners of family and arriving at this time to 195 tonnes sharing these days.
