The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by Council for Youth, Education and Social Policy, Javier Herrero, Josefa Calderon Antonio Maroto, this morning visited the facilities of The Book Botica Campano, next to Café Youth and Children's Playroom located in the neighborhood clubhouse.
These three projects of social and cultural revitalization are reaping major awards and serving as an example for other initiatives.
Barreiro has praised the important work done by volunteers in these programs, so that their neighbors learn to live together in a meeting which provides a healthy and educational entertainment.
The mayor noted that the Government of the City Council relies heavily on the social groups and voluntary associations of the districts for activities and projects in line with what the neighbors claim.
In addition, Barreiro has brought forward the signing of an agreement with the departments involved in the development of these programs for the coordination of these actions.
Specifically, and with seven entities and groups (homeowners association, community hospital adult education, women's association Fina Espinosa, promote, cultural association La Botica del Libro, La Charka and Psychologists Association for Change) are performed, including , the above projects within the local society.
La Botica del Libro is a project to promote multiculturalism through the book and reading it is present, as well as in Lo Campano, in the neighborhood of José María Lapuerta.
In the same social club there is also the Child Botica, a study space, reading, learning and intercultural meeting aimed at children aged 0 to 7 years.
For Younger also conducts Prince Club, a place free from noise and stress which also provides educational support.
The Youth Café is aimed at young people living in the neighborhood of Lo Campano, aged between 13 and 30 years and is open in the afternoons, between 18 and 23 hours from Monday to Friday, extended hours during the morning weekends.
Of an educational activity is also Groups Leisure Time Education, aimed at children 8 to 13 years and in which free time working in a education.
The social center of the neighborhood is also home Campano What healthy snacks, offered to all children who participate in any activities that take place weekly at the clubhouse.
The voluntary agencies also work with adults in the neighborhood, classroom education, counseling service, theater group, personal growth groups with women aged 25 to 70 years, leisure activities for women, almarjal program (intervention socioaffective with families at risk of social exclusion) and the pharmacy traveling, leading to the prison literary interest or demanded by the inmates.
The City of Cartagena, on the other hand, besides these groups rely on volunteers to carry out these activities in the social, keeps other actions in the neighborhood.
Of note is the library, toy library project for 60 children 6 to 12 years and the Mujer Gitana, for 52 women, in collaboration with Caritas Interparroquial The Mateos-Lo Campano, and promotion workshop for women, in which 29 students aged 16 to 60 years conducted workshops on cooking, sewing, literacy ...
in collaboration with the volunteer group in San Vicente de Paul.
