The Museum of Modern Art, Cartagena (Muram) opens its doors for the first time on Wednesday April 29 with the exhibition "The Age of Rodin ', an exhibition of 54 sculptures from the likes of Rodin, Bourdelle, Claudel Carpeaux and and remain in Cartagena until 20 September.
The pieces have been donated by the Foundation Carlos Slim for this exhibition.
The opening ceremony will take place at 20 pm and will be chaired by the president of the Community Ramon Luis Valcarcel, and will be attended by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, and the Minister of Culture, Pedro Alberto Cruz, among other officials.
The large number of works of art has made this first exhibition is located in three different facilities: the Palacio Aguirre, the annex building and the Museo del Teatro Romano de Cartagena, which features five works by the sculptor.
La Era de Rodin transit and discovers the differences of academic art of the French master who broke schemes to open up new possibilities of expression in art.
The route begins at the Paris Motor Show nineteenth century, setting the aesthetic model of France and the West.
The visitor will come to The Gates of Hell and share the drama of The Burghers of Calais, the two projects dear to their creator.
Hell's Gate, two iconic presence for the universal culture come together in this exhibition: The Thinker (1880-1881), a symbol of free thought, and Kiss (1886), breath of love.
The visitor will enter the world of portraits of Rodin, of the idealized figure of Suzon, sculpted in his youth, his mature work and expressive: the bust of Victor Hugo admired and the last portrait of a lady, Lady Sackville.
Also include the work he considered the sum of all his art: Balzac, Dominican monk's habit, as well as hands and dancers who embody the figures and volumes precursors of modernism in sculpture, as the cathedral, the great hand clenched and the Study Iris, messenger of the gods, among others.
The entrance to the exhibition is free and can be visited from 10 to 20.30, Monday to Saturday and from 10 to 14 hours, Sundays and public holidays.
Around the exhibition, there will also be lectures, workshops and a film series.
In addition, the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena will host two exhibitions between October and December this year.
The first is entitled 'The legacy of González Moreno' and features the work of sculptors Garay Murcia, Molina Almela Sánchez and Costa.
The second is titled "Poetics of the twentieth century 'and will showcase the work of famous artists like Picasso, Sorolla and Tapies.
