A sailboat shows the effects of climate change on the sea (15/04/2009)

Vell Marí, a boat dedicated to environmental education and applied research in marine conservation are developed by Obra Social La Caixa Foundation in collaboration with the Foundation for the Preservation and Recovery of Marine Animals (CRAM) Cartagena has again six months after his first visit to explain to the public the effects of climate change on the Mediterranean coast and proposals to reduce the effects of human activity on the environment.

The Councillor for Sustainable Development, Isaiah Camarzana, along with Alberto Montiel, director of La Caixa Area in Cartagena, Marco Aurelio Lorenzana, president and director of the Yacht Port Cartagena, Alex Perez, the Environment Department of Social Work 'The Caixa 'and Laia Calvo, biologist and educator CRAM Foundation, presented this morning, this awareness campaign, which will be in Cartagena until 17 April.

Vell Marí is accompanied by a mobile classroom that offers educational and audiovisual presentation based on the effects of climate change on the marine environment.

Visitors can see first hand how it is and how a ship is engaged in the recovery and marine animal clinic and performs tasks of operation and maintenance of the sea.

For participants between 5 and 8 years, tells the story 'A syrup land', for which the smallest in a fun way to discover what is global warming and how it affects the Earth, seas and oceans.

The sailboat will host around 250 students of primary, secondary and high schools, organizations, families ...

The 2009 environmental campaign program 'La Caixa for the sea route Vell Marí "focuses on collecting water samples around the Spanish coast, to be included in the database Carboocean the European project, which aimed at understanding the ocean carbon balance of the last 200 years and has developed through the provision of 50 research centers and universities in Europe.
