The Naval Hospital has opened a fourth surgery in the area of General Surgery will host seven daily interventions and Ambulatory Surgery Short Stay Surgery in order to reduce surgical waiting list of service and provide coverage for gynecological, as the Department of Surgery surgical sessions held Monday through Thursday at the new theater, which operates at full capacity since 24 March.
This activity ensures the presence of a surgeon to cover the Naval Hospital when needed.
The new theater will address diseases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy, pinolidales cysts, inguinal hernias and hemorrhoids.
Patients will be filtered by the disease according to their degree of complexity, geographical proximity and availability of transport for patients, as is usual for this type of surgery.
The General Surgery service center in 2008 made a total of 1,171 inpatient interventions planned, while a year earlier, a total of 1,111 interventions.
The service carried out 586 interventions in outpatient elective surgery in 2008, while a year before he recorded 471 interventions in this category, which has led to an increase of 8.1 percent.
