The Government delegate suggested that the mayor of Cartagena agreement on safety
The government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, has co-chaired this morning by the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro Alvarez, Local Safety Board convened by the City Council to coordinate activities on the occasion of the upcoming Easter holiday.
González Tovar has reiterated its confidence in the role of this body to improve the coordination of the actions of the National Police and Civil Guard and the local police of the municipalities in our region.
"Son-noted-an effective tool by which I will resolutely continue betting."
About the actions of the Corps and State Security Forces in the region has highlighted the increased effectiveness of the National Police in the investigation of crimes, which in 2008 reached 41 percent.
This increase occurred also in the number of detainees who reached the figure of 1389 people, 5.2 percent above the 2007 data.
Also, the Guardia Civil actions have led to growth so far this year compared to same period last year both the number of clarifications of crime, which has reached 30 percent as the number of arrests have increased by 13 percent.
The Government delegate also reported other measures taken by this administration to increase public safety in Cartagena, carried out in the field of Civil Guard.
Specifically, the headquarters of Torre Pacheco, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar has become Main, and this has enabled the creation of new areas of investigation of crimes.
It has also created a research group at the Headquarters of Cartagena and a new Judicial Police Equipment in San Javier, in addition to those already active in Torre Pacheco and Cartagena.
It also has the Public Safety Unit which operates in the demarcation of the 4 th and 5 th company of the Civil Guard, who this month have been strengthened with the addition of 39 new personnel to Rural Safety Group.
On the operational side, have carried out specific actions such as the Prevention of Crimes against property, currently in force; Inspections Scrap; Preventing Theft of copper cables; Theft Prevention Pipeline Fuel, Operation on Crime Groups some of them under investigation.
The most recent of these was the arrest yesterday in The Aljorra a person accused of crimes alleged against Heritage in rural areas such as farms and homes located in areas of countryside.

Safety Partnership Agreement
The delegate of the Government also proposed to the mayor of Cartagena sign a partnership agreement on security, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the National Police, the Guardia Civil and Local Police.
This agreement would entail the development of a Local Safety Plan that would include joint action programs and planned, a protocol for assistance in automated information or the installation of a shared technical operations.
"These types of agreements already signed with five municipalities in the region (Molina de Segura, Caravaca, Blanca, Cieza Beniel and) is an objective of this delegation, since we could improve service delivery, optimize available resources and progress in improving public safety, "he pointed out.
Troop surge
With regard to the provision of Forces of State Security, the government delegate noted that in the past four years have seen an increase of nearly 82 percent of the staff, both Civil Guard and the National Body Police stationed in Cartagena, so that currently has a staff of 613 agents.
He noted that currently the county among the troops of the 4 th and 5 th company with 339 policemen, while the National Police Station of Cartagena has 263 agents.
Finally said that "this increase is an expression of commitment and effort that the Government of Spain is making to improve public safety in the whole region, which has a direct impact in a more effective policing."
