The Exhibition Hall of the Cultural Center hosts Luzzy Ramón Alonso from now until April 28 photo exhibition New York, 1988, by Ángel Fernández Saura, a selection of images taken by the photographer during the year he was in the Big Apple by a grant from the Directorate General for Culture of Murcia.
While the original exhibition consists of 155 images, the exhibition brings together cultural center around a hundred, all medium format cameras.
The exhibition consists of several sections: Signs of War, which offers a vision pop, pop influenced by American authors on the truck bout a museum in an aircraft carrier anchored in New York; Zooilógico, with photographs at the Museum of Natural History in New York and intends to give an ironic view of life; Windows, with a series of images 'jump' a U.S. law that prohibits looking at the neighbors Vertical section dedicated to the great forest of skyscrapers the city, another documentary section, with a more human view of the city water tanks, made of wood and are a symbol of the city, and sequences where you play with space and time.
And finally, the last two sections where space could not be exposed, can be projected onto a monitor.
According to the photographer, none of the series came by chance.
It was a year of work in the city because the grant was to visit museums and take pictures.
I let myself be influenced by the pop and abstract expressionism in New York, two great unknown for me at that time.
For the author, there was a before and after his trip to New York, both personally and professionally, but after that year has not returned to the city of skyscrapers.
The exhibition can be seen on the ground floor of the cultural center Luzzy Ramón Alonso, from 9 to 14 and from 17 to 20 hours.
