The new Center for Child Care, which opened today by the Minister for Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, the council of Cartagena de La Aljorra can accommodate 94 children from 4 to 36 months of age.
The cost of the proposed new CAI has amounted to 770,937 euros, including equipment, of which the Autonomous Community has contributed 545,270 euros 225,667 and the City, an amount that includes the value of the land.
This new ISC became operational on 26 September and is currently occupied 50 percent of the seats.
It is open from 7:30 to 20 pm, staffed by a teacher-coordinator, two technicians and an early childhood educator with a degree of support assistant kindergarten.
At the ceremony this morning in La Aljorra also attended the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the director general of Family and Children, Laura Muñoz.
INVESTING IN THE CITY
In the municipality of Cartagena from 2006 to 2008, 862 places have been funded, of which 330 are in service, which has involved the investment of 4,536,129 euros by the Ministry.
Of this amount, 3,959,529 euros were for the council.
For this exercise, given the subsidy of 450,000 euros for the construction of Phase II of the CAI Private Mediterranean.
As for other centers planned to work in September this year include the CAI of El Albujón (94 seats) and Child Care Points (PAIs) of La Aparecida (41) and La Puebla (41).
In total, 176 new seats.
Also, four are under construction Cais, with 356 seats, La Palma (94), Pozo Estrecho (94), The Trough (94) and Mediterranean Construction Phase I (74).
At regional level, until the end of last year the number of subsidized places stood at 7,944, equivalent to an investment of 40,660,281 euros.
And this year, are scheduled four performances (Sewell, Cartagena, La Union and Lorca) plus located on the San Javier air base.
All of them add 305 new jobs.
If these are added the 389 for the Mediation Center of the Institute for Women, at the end of 2009 the Region will have 8,638 child care places.
