The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, the area manager of Caja Madrid in Murcia, José Antonio Martínez Roda, and the director of the office of the entity in Cartagena, Concepción Pagan, has presented today the new vehicle purchased by the social health council, which has been covered with 33,000 euros from the Caja Madrid, according to the agreement signed between them last November.
This is the first vehicle of the City itself, and so far this transfer has been carried out by a concessionaire, in addition to other vehicles but they are not adapted.
According to Pilar Barreiro, despite the crisis and budget cuts in the central government allocated to social benefits, the City Council will continue to work for the elderly so they can be served in day care centers or in their own homes if they prefer.
The newly acquired vehicle for up to nine seats and adapted for the disabled, will be used to transport the sick and elderly to the Day Care Centers in the city, mainly in El Algar.
To this end, systems have to fix the wheelchair, folding ramp, rescue equipment and protection, as well as space for users to be accompanied by a caregiver.

The Area Director of Caja Madrid was pleased by this partnership with the City in actions that have an important social significance, and in this sense has announced other projects that the Social Work of the entity in the region in culture , educational, and environmental care.
