The Councillor for Infrastructure, José Vicente Albaladejo, and Sports, Alonso Gómez, today presented the 14 actions that are going to take place this year in terms of sports facilities projects, works that will expand the network of these municipal facilities in districts and councils, and will assume 14.2 percent of the investment of Plan E.
Albaladejo has made clear the two criteria that has followed the City Council to determine the actions to be carried out: first, criterion for coordination and collaboration with neighborhood groups, as has been done with other districts and county works and secondly, we have considered the actions that were already planned in advance.
For his part, Councillor for Sports stated that our aim is simply to balance the scales, making all councils have sports facilities tailored to their needs and their population.
On the scale of the works and the volume of investment, major projects are the construction of a sports center with swimming pool in La Aljorra (1,740,184 euros) and conversion to the pool deck Pozo Estrecho, for which employ a self-supporting tent fabric laminated structure and installation of air conditioning (1,480,172 euros).
The remaining activities relating to the construction of an indoor sports court Alumbres, two separate dressing rooms for tracks and Isla Plana Vista Alegre, and basic sports facilities for the Barrio San Antón and Virgen de la Caridad.
The simplest works are the enclosure of the core sports of Los Belones, development of a sports area in Playa Honda, two sports courts in Los Urrutias and La Aparecida, improved sports flooring and lighting José María Lapuerta and installation of this type of paving and lighting in La Puebla, annexed to the health center.
All this in regard to districts and county council, as the center will be out the project of creating an urban sports area on the street Carlos III, next to Campus Alfonso XIII, amounting to 398,964 euros .
The total investment for these 14 projects included in the Plan E amounts to 5,212,295 euros, which is financed from state funds and the performances, most of them being adjudicated and contract signing and commencement of works, must be completed to December 31, 2009.
However, there is the possibility of an extension of six months, although the goal to finish on time.
FACILITIES AT LA MANGA WAITING FOR COSTS REPORT
Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez, announced that the City has plans to build a football field in La Manga, installation for which the budget is now, but first need the approval of the Directorate General of Coasts, to whom it has referred the project and have not yet responded.
