IU + Greens in the Regional Assembly has requested a hearing with the Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, to report on episodes of benzene and toluene contamination recorded in the council cartageneras Alum.

He added that these episodes are added to those recorded in October 2008 in Sewell, where he exceeded 540 micrograms, and maintained since the beginning of this year due to overcoming Alumbres benzene emissions.
In this regard, counsel criticized Pujante Antonio Cerda, whom he accused of not taking the necessary measures, both preventive and corrective, despite the passing of benzene and toluene in the air is "a strong impact on public health and the environment. "
For its part, the coordinator of IU in Cartagena, Victoria Rodriguez, expressed his "total rejection" of the attitude of the council for Sustainable Development of the town, Joaquín Segado, and blamed "irresponsible to maintain a position at the repeated incidents of contamination air.
