He arrives tomorrow Tuesday 10 March at 21:30 hours, the New Teatro Circo Cartagena Dinner of the generals, one of the last plays of José Luis Alonso de Santos in which the author revisits our Civil War.

The play takes place in the kitchen of the Hotel Palace, where a dinner for the victorious generals of the war.

Directed by Miguel Narros, is played by 18 actors who heads Sancho Gracia and Juan Cucalón.

Tickets are 18 and 15 Euros.

The work is part of the program of the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.

Captive and disarmed the Red Army and sent Franco in Spain.

The national troops have achieved their military goals last ending the war.

To celebrate the victory, has the idea of paying tribute to his generals with a dinner at a place of adornment in Madrid so it chooses the Palace Hotel for the celebration.

But the famed hotel, converted into a hospital until a few days earlier, is in very poor condition due to bombardment with Franco and chastised conmilitones the capital.

In addition to complicate the matter, a large part of the kitchen staff, who prepare the feast, is in prison for his militant socialist, communist or anarchist.

So begins The dinner of the generals, the latest work by José Luis Alonso de Santos to go on stage.

Directed by Miguel Narros, the coral is cast, led by Sancho Gracia and Juan Cucalón, the poor "maitre d 'hotel and deputy quartermaster, respectively, which will have to fix the mess as possible.

And they have allowed the author to reflect on the men with the story beyond the generals and great characters that star.

Metaphor of the losers

The protagonists are the ones who get ahead in a Spain destroyed.

In the case of the kitchen staff as well, with the uncertainty that can be shot when they return to prison over the banquet.

They have to prove they are capable of overcoming the situation and prepare dinner with all his dignity, even though they're going to try their enemies.

Get the complicity of other staff, who joins on the issue at hand.

You have to survive as possible regardless of the ideology of each.

They are very disappointed by what happened and act with wisdom and common sense, two qualities missing in life but usually they are very necessary to build rather than destroy.

The book is number 27 of Alonso de Santos of thirty who has written throughout his career in theater.

With text, the author has given the go like much of what has been dramatic since production began in 1974.

A trajectory that has achieved success in different genres that now runs.

The Night of the Generals contains tragedy, epic theater, psychological, but the main line is comedy, but not a comedy to Berlanga, but the Italian style of Vittorio de Sica and Alberto Sordi.

With it, Alonso de Santos wants to claim the idea that however badly things go, the end is an exit that can face life with hope.

Optimism and confidence in humanity that the work is not so clear.

Mounting madness

From a formal point of view, the text is full of challenges for the director.

Miguel Narros considered in a recent interview that "It is a difficult task, complicated, but very well written and constructed scenes."

It is also a very choral work, with 18 characters, "and a stage that is crazy, with a continuous motion like the waves of the sea, but has long wanted to make a work of Alonso de Santos, and here I am "explains the director.

To narrate the piece is "a metaphor for what was Spain, a country devastated you had to pull to front to lift it."

As an attempt to make their characters, especially a young couple, played by Cesar chefs Oliver and Candela Arroyo.

Above them lies the hope of a better future, but it is not clear at the end.

"Nobody knows what to expect, nor what will happen, but they are responsible for building a new country" a forgotten war.

The rest of the characters highlights the chef Narros to substitute an anarchist who makes "the toughest speech against politicians" (Ana Goya) and a waitress Falangist (Lucia Bravo), which like the other characters not listed in any time.
