The city of Cartagena, as a tourist destination, perform during the next two years the Chair of the Quality Interdestination, which is the highest national manager in charge of the implementation of Quality System Destinations (SICTED), which depends the Ministry of Tourism.
The appointment took place during the celebration of Fitur, as a result of votes from all the participating destinations.
In this way, Cartagena was chosen to pursue the presidency while Manchester held the vice presidency.
Following the establishment of the Committee, proceeded to the election of the elected positions established in the statutes, made up of three groups responsible for representing a total of 93 Spanish destinations.
Thus, the heads of each group were Espuña, Valle de Ricote and Cartagena.
Similarly, a fourth group was set up on state government, which eventually was led by Andalusia, Galicia, Asturias and Murcia.
In total, the Autonomous Region owns 20 percent of discretion in the executive Interdestination Committee, resulting in a majority said that reflects the relevance of the Region of Murcia in the national tourism landscape quality issues.
The director general of Tourism, Angel Campos, expressed his satisfaction with the prestige that comes from this representation for the Region of Murcia.
"It's a unique occasion to promote a comprehensive awareness of the destination," he said.
According to Campos, "In these times, the quality is the strongest element with which we have to differentiate ourselves in the tourism market and the correct way to extract the most out of our potential."
He recalled that at present the Region of Murcia "SICTED has nine projects in Aguilas, Cartagena, Lorca, Mar Menor, Northwest, Sierra Espuña, Ricote Valley, Northeast and Murcia, a network that comprehensively covers all our territory. "
The next meeting of the Committee shall be to define the timing, form the permanent working groups and analyze the development and evolution of the different processes and projects.
In addition, we will study the development of training activities that qualify for SICTED managers.
