Crew members of the Navy patrol 'Infanta Cristina' have been honored by United Nations UNIFIL Medal in recognition of work done as part of its Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) after 90 days on patrol in the area of operations .
The ship, which continues to develop surveillance in the maritime environment of Lebanon, was the setting for the imposition of awards at a ceremony presided over by the French Admiral Jean Louis Kerignard, commander of the naval group that is responsible for the maritime UNIFIL.
Patrolman 'Infanta Cristina' left his base in Cartagena Military Arsenal on 31 October and is scheduled to return there in the middle of next week.
In the coming days will be relieved by the patroller 'Winner' in its maritime patrol duties in Lebanon.
On March 1, 2008, the Euromarfor-maritime force that form part of Spain, France, Italy and Portugal, took command of a force for maritime surveillance off the coast of Lebanon as part of the United Nations UNIFIL operation .
The Spanish contribution to this force is a police car in the class 'Uncovered'.
UNIFIL operation in the maritime part (MAROPS) is carried out within the framework of United Nations resolutions 1707 and 1832, to assist the Government of Lebanon to exercise its authority over its maritime areas of interest and prevent the entry illegal weapons in the country.
