Street dance course with the program T-La (04/02/2009)

In the 70's in the South Bronx, New York, young Latino and African American with a long history of poverty and marginalization, guided by the need to dance and not having access to dance studios developed a style dance in the streets.

This dance was part of a lifestyle alternative to gangs and violence, offering the possibility of social ties and express themselves creatively and nonviolently.

Unlike other forms of dance, Street Dance encourages creativity individual originality.

The dancers interpret the existing movements freely, improvising and creating new ones.

Improvisation is the heart of the dances in the street is why the dance is constantly evolving.

Many Street Dance include matches or duels known as jamming.

The ham is an informal kind of show that takes place within the framework of a social dance.

The dancers form a circle and take turns, singly or in pairs show their skills while others watch and decide who is the winner.

The program T-LA (Alternative Leisure) is organizing a workshop for the Street Dance on Saturday evening from 17:30 hours to 19:30 hours.

The registration fee is $ 10 and can be formalized in the facilities of the Youth Resource Center, Paseo Alfonso XIII, n º 51.
