Mayor Pilar Barreiro, accompanied by the Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez López, received this morning the team was champion of Spain in the last Championship of Spain Children's Sailing Team organized by the Sailing Federation of Murcia and Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and held last September at the High Performance Centre Maria Cristina, Los Narejos.
Team members, about a fortnight, aged between 9 and 15 years, competed with 17 other clubs across Spain in the Laser class sailing optimist and children.
The kids, accompanied by President of Club de Regatas, Miguel Angel Celdran Vidal, the director of the Escuela de Vela de Cartagena, Eduardo Gallego, and three monitors have received the congratulations of the mayor.
The director of the Sailing School has said that this award recognizes the work and effort made by kids in a tough sport that is increasingly popular.
It has also añadidod one of the members of the Sailing School, Fernando Ros, is preparing for the next Olympics in London, 2012, the Olympic class Laser.
The champions have been delivered to the mayor of the plaque they received in the Championship, and received, in turn, some gifts.
