The Ministry of Public Administration has approved the first list of works - a total of eleven projects - the City of Cartagena submitted for funding under the Local Investment Fund after approval by the Local Government Board on 29 December.
It will be recalled, these first eleven projects will involve a total investment of just over 4.9 million euros (4,939,884.10 euros) and will employ about 140 workers, according to estimates by the municipal technical services.
The package of projects have included large pieces of asphalt, such as resurfacing of the old N-332 from Cartagena to Los Urrutias crossing El Algar, on a stretch of 15 kilometers, and the renewal of the asphalt in the industrial estate Cabezo Beaza and modernization of roads in the district of Los Dolores, with new sidewalks and lighting, and other neighborhoods like Los Barreros, Four Saints, La Concepción and Santa Ana
Following this approval, the City immediately initiate procedures for the procurement of these works to be executed and completed during 2009.
In parallel, municipal technical services are working on new projects and works to be funded from the Local Investment Fund for a total of 36 million euros.
For now, we have adopted Local Government in two packages of works and projects - a total of 28 - with a total of just over sixteen and a half million euros.
The Council has on 24 January as the deadline for submitting projects to the State administration.
