The calculation for higher municipal taxes of the City of Cartagena for the year 2009 was established by the government team attending to the welfare of a CPI (Consumer Price Index) of 4.5% for the year 2008.
But we suffer the economic downturn, caused by the crisis and falling oil prices have finally driven the CPI has remained at 1.5%.
Thus taxes such as IBI (Property Tax), the garbage disposal or sewage will experience a rise of 4.5%, well above inflation of 1.5%.
The government team has not rectified, nor is it intending to do so, his calculations for the tax increase the year 2009.
That, at least, the decision taken in the last plenary meeting of 2,008, thereby violating the commitment not to raise taxes above the CPI.
UPyD Cartagena, believes that taxes should not rise above the criticism CPI and therefore the decision of the Municipal People's Government.
At a time of economic crisis like the present does not seem reasonable to raise taxes to citizens beyond inflation.
Cartagena UPyD requests that the Municipal Government Team to take appropriate action to rectify the decision.
