Today is the first edition of Blood Donation Marathon, a charity campaign promoted by the Autonomous Community, the City of Cartagena, Cadena SER and the Blood Donation Center of the Region of Murcia.
Throughout the morning were 158 donors attended, of whom 16 had to be rejected for medical reasons.
Of the 142 that have actually been able to donate blood 52 did for the first time.
Among those who have come to the Palace Consitorial to participate in the donation had known characters, such as athletes, including footballers of FC Cartagena and volleyball players from El Algar, and politicians, but the highlight has been the large number of anonymous people who wanted to join this solidarity marathon.
Remember that exploit dates where donations are needed more than ever.
Each day requires at least 250 donations to meet the needs of hospitals in the region.
Any blood type is needed, although the negative 0, being universal, and 0 positive, being the most common among the population, are the most popular.
This year donors have responded to 57,615, up 15% over the previous year.
In this sense, Cartagena is one of the most important cities of the region in terms of donations.
In fact, el18% of all donations come from the Health Area II of Cartagena.
Health Area II have served 10,818 donors, with a total of 10,000 blood donations.
The Blood Donor Marathon will continue to set this afternoon at the Palace Hall, 16 to 20 hours.
Any citizen can go 18 to 65 years with a minimum weight of 50 kilos and in good health.
Furthermore, to encourage further donations from citizens, FC Cartagena each donor will give away a ticket for the next game against the Merida Cartagena.
In addition, the draw for two shirts of Real Madrid and Barca signed by their players and donated for the occasion.
Cadena SER, in turn, contribute to the promotion of the event and participation in radio programs a day.
