The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, has opened this morning at the Museum of Underwater Archaeology Cartagena the exhibition to mark the 15th anniversary d Salvage organized by the Ministry of Development, through the Directorate General of Merchant Marine Society of Maritime Safety Agency, in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross.
The exhibition, which will visit 16 cities in Spanish, is a tribute and recognition to the work done by workers who are part of the Company, and is open to the public until the next day ARQUA 21 ..
Over 14 panels that comprise describes the evolution of the associations that have been charged with safeguarding human life at sea throughout history until today including the Spanish Society of Lifeboat created in nineteenth century and the Spanish Red Cross.
In addition, visitors can view the history and development of Salvage and deployment of own resources, both human and material along the Spanish coast since its inception in 1993.
The exhibition will show the latest models of sea and air means that the Ministry of Public Works has built through the National Rescue Plan 2006-2009, whose endowment stands at 1,023 million euros.
The visitor will display models of multipurpose ship "Don Inda" tug "María Pita, a model of the new CN 235-300 aircraft and a reproduction of the new model helicopter is joining the fleet of aircraft, the Agusta Westland, among other things.
The Maritime Rescue maritime fleet currently consists of 4 large newly built multipurpose vessels, 11 rescue tugboats, 4 planes, 9 rescue helicopters, 55 boats rapid type "save me", a new type of boat called "Guardamar" , 6 strategic bases to combat pollution and underwater 6 bases.
The number of units has grown from 60 in 2004 to 96 today.
Through this exhibition, visitors can also meet some of the tools to do the work of rescue at sea and combat marine pollution through photographs and real material, models of units, uniforms of the staff of Red Cross and Salvation Maritime, etc.
In these 15 years, the strength and effectiveness of Salvage has developed into today in a public service with the means of intervention to match the most advanced societies in their response to emergencies at sea and environmental protection of oceans.
