The Councillor for Social Care, Antonio Calderón Rodríguez, today opened the exhibition of Christmas Volunteers of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, a sample of the work being carried out from the training and development workshops that association has opened in several places and neighborhoods in the city and can be seen in a local that has been provided for this event located in Queen Victoria Street No 16.
From 9 to 14 December will be exposed to diverse and varied handicrafts made by women in the workshops of the Casa del Niño, Lo Campano and Slum Virgen de la Caridad.
The volunteers of this association turn their efforts in training workshops and support in promoting women in the most disadvantaged, an activity that goes along the lines of action of the Association of St. Vincent de Paul, a full member of the Association Caridad International, present in 54 countries with 250,000 members.
In Spain, up about 3,000 active people, many volunteers and 7,000 other partners.
It is also federated with Caritas national, diocesan and local levels and is a member of the Spanish Committee of Social Welfare, among others.
Its main purpose is to meet the needs from the different situations of poverty and actions of solidarity and support.
In Cartagena this group carries out its work in the barrios of San Antonio Abad, Lo Campano, Downtown, Mediterranean and Slum Housing Virgen de la Caridad, with actions that are the backbone of solidarity of Volunteers of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
