UPyD statement sent by:
Cartagena UPyD supports the request of the Coordinator
Pinwheel requesting an archaeological dig
and put in value of Investment Fund money
Municipal hill area not covered by
Directorate General of Culture.
The Committee for the Defense of Windlass Hill has asked the
Municipal Government Team of the City of Cartagena to devote to
excavation and valorisation of hill area not covered by the project
Director of photography, of the money they receive from the Central Government
through Municipal Investment Fund for public works.
The set of groups and individuals that make up the recall coordinator
the Autonomous Region covers only the excavation of the Southern
hill, forgetting both the peak of the same environment as the old streets
San Esteban and Moorish.
The Coordinator stressed that the City undertook to excavate all
PERI scope to develop it before, but until now has been abandoned to the
important deposit found in the Moorish and has paralyzed
Excavations in the rest of the urbanized area intended.
Moreover, both the local and the regional government has repeatedly justified
occasions the need to develop two slopes of the hill to meet the costs
the enhancement of the entire site, something that would not be an excuse if you use
state funds.
This situation is compounded by the recognition by Councilman
Urbanism that there is no interest from entrepreneurs to invest in the
Twirl.
Similarly, the coordinator shows that the excavation
comprehensive archaeological full scope of the Pinwheel PERI and its value
Archaeological Park as a greater than expected in the PERI, is a project
well-designed to meet all the requirements stated in the notice of
Central Government.
It will be recalled in the Upper and Lower streets Morerías found an entire neighborhood
industrial and port, including a large well-preserved Roman road,
mosaics and stairs carved in rock.
For his part, at the top were two
temples and the water tank of the hot springs, among other items of interest.
The proposal would therefore be complementary to the project running
Autonomous currently, and will include fencing, excavation
archaeological, building, lighting and signage of the area, as well as
restoration of the two mills that crown the hill and the creation of landscaped areas
in areas where archaeological remains are not.
Be wasted by
Therefore, any construction in the area of PERI.
Cartagena UPyD believes that the creation of a major archaeological park,
in this and other areas of the city would be a dynamic element to the activity
Cartagena economic and therefore quite right to consider proposal
Coordinator.
With the excavation of this large site would create jobs
direct for now, focus of the Central Government grants to
Municipalities, creating a large focus of tourism and revitalization of historic
that can provide many stable jobs for the future of both
directly and indirectly.
