The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, welcomed 36.6 million euros from the Local Investment Fund that will stop the county, but believes that it is not sufficient funding is not demanded by mayors and what really needed is more participation in government taxes.
To Barreiro, the decree that develops this distribution of money has been made by people who know the workings of local councils, and yet the government team is already working to identify projects that will go the money, Most of them are included in the electoral program in order to modernize the city and did not have funding to carry them out.
The City has until January 24, 2009 to define projects and 18 months to develop, as well as not to exceed 5 million euros earmarked for public works infrastructure.
