ADIF public company under the Ministry of Development and responsible for the development and management of the rail network, has approved the tender for a contract for execution of works for removing a level crossing located in the municipality of Cartagena, the railway line connecting that city with Murcia.
The tender is aimed at carrying out the work of suppression, once the study of different alternatives and analysis of the comments submitted by affected agencies with jurisdiction over roads or highways.
The works of suppression of the level crossing involving an investment with an initial budget of EUR 3,534,314.45.
The deadline for execution of works is 18 months.
The level crossing is going to be deleted is located in the municipality of Cartagena, on the railway line that links to Murcia and continues to Chinchilla.
It is located at 512/473 pk, corresponding to the road to Cabo de Palos Albujón.
This performance reflects the commitment to improve safety Adif on the railroad, with performances by removing level crossings, improving their protection and awareness campaigns.
Specifically, part of Suppression and Enhancement Plan of Level Crossings launched by the Ministry of Public Works in 2005.
This plan includes a schedule that prioritizes the actions commensurate with the level of risk for each step and coordinates their execution both to the individual owners of the vials (municipalities and autonomous regions, mainly) and with the new routes under the Strategic Infrastructure Plan and Transport (PEIT).
Under the Suppression and Enhancement Plan of level crossings in the year 2012 will be eliminated 1,931 level crossings.
This investment takes the form of work for the State, and is performed within the Programme Agreement signed between the Central Government and ADIF for the period 2007-2010.
