Cartagena held on Friday, 5 December, International Volunteer Day, a special way: students, young and old, roam the streets of the city, handing out hugs to passers-by and make up later, a 'V' giant in the Esplanade port.
The activity is organized by the Municipal Volunteer Program of the City of Cartagena, through Implica2 Programs, IDEAS and the European Voluntary Service of the Department of Youth, in collaboration with secondary schools and all who wish to join and express thus joining the voluntary social action.
This unique form of celebration is framed in a campaign to publicize the work of volunteering among young people of Secondary Schools, which will take place throughout 2008/2009.
It involves local and international youth volunteers, by providing the students of institutes his own experience as volunteers, thus transmitting their commitment to community participation to help build a more committed and united society.
Within the activity will also mention the Millennium Goals by 2015, framed by the Millennium Campaign United Nations, which inspires and motivates the commitment and participation of people for the realization of the MDGs: eradicate extreme poverty, achieving universal primary education, promote gender equality, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combat HIV / AIDS and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development.
Will also be referred to the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights will be held on December 10, 2008.
The proposed event program is as follows:
"Concentration of the participants in the Plaza of Spain at 12.00.
"Understanding the development of the business 'hugging among the population'
Deal-colored gloves and stickers identifying 'Hold'
-Divide into groups of colors and start walking along different streets of the city: C / Carmen, Sagasta, Plaza Juan XXIII, C / Santa Florentina, Puertas de Murcia, C / Mayor, Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
"Concentration in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Cartagena, reading the Millennium Development Goals and the 60 Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
"The event will be presented by Javier Herrero Padrón, Councillor for Youth of the City of Cartagena.
"The reading will be provided by students from the volunteer program of the IES Pedro Peñalver of El Algar.
-Finally, focus on the esplanade of the Port to form with all the participants a 'V' Volunteer.
