Resounding success of the course may qualify Ecoefficient Touring Car Driving by the City of Cartagena, in the context of the European Mobility Week which was held last September.
After analyzing data related to fuel consumption shows that the twenty-six drivers participated in it were able to reduce fuel consumption by 15% on average, which means a decrease in consumption of about 1.13 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.
All students who participated in the course were able to reduce fuel consumption, after applying the simple driving techniques and practices that were raised by the monitors of the St. Nicholas Training Centre which was the company responsible for teaching the course.
Some participants were able to reduce their consumption by over 25% and one of them managed to reach the figure of 25%, all without substantially extend the time taken to make the journey.
The driving courses are one of the priority actions included in national strategic planning and energy efficiency savings in the Region of Murcia are driven from the Agency for Energy Management in the Region of Murcia.
For next year 2009, the City of Cartagena and is planning several activities of this type, some aimed at the general public and other city officials and drivers of commercial vehicles.
