FAMDIF representatives participated in the Monday afternoon in one of the activities of the Volunteer Course for Universal Accessibility in Architecture and Engineering, which is being developed at the Technical University of Cartagena, designed for students of Public Works Engineering and Architecture Technical.
The exhibition, framed within one of the modules of the course, "Introduction to Persons with Disabilities" was presented by Emilio Cano, Coordinator of the Accessibility FAMDIF / COCEMFE, and M ª Ángeles Riquelme, Technical Architect of the Federation.
In it, showed the difficulties in accessibility that are every day people with disabilities to carry out their daily activities by the absence of architectural and urban planning and execution errors in the works.
To this end, we developed a practical activity in which course participants to see first hand the problems in the accessibility of the environment using wheelchairs to navigate the Wall Campus, home where he is teaching the course and its surroundings.
These were able to confirm the difficulties faced by people with disabilities, even in the same university, with access problems, for example, study hall, cafeteria, and even the toilets reserved for disabled people.
The talk ended with an explanation outlining the exhibition, a series of shots that allowed course participants to note the architectural and urban problems that are seen regularly in our cities and buildings, to raise awareness of the need design criteria of universal access
The course, which directs and coordinates Isabel Ferrer Bas, Consultant for Special Programs UPCT, ends on December 5 and aims to familiarize students with the provision of voluntary, with knowledge of current regulations concerning the requirement of adaptation urban and industrial space to the needs of people with physical disabilities, and help in the understanding of both urban and accessible areas of public buildings, private and industrial.
