The bad times come also to culture.
The XXXVII International Film Festival of Cartagena has adapted to the crisis and has strived to offer a greater number of films, shorts, documentaries and animated films for all audiences, avoiding the big events, guests and gala presentation.
The President of the Festival, José Cabezas explained that the event maintains its philosophy of attracting citizens of Cartagena to the cinema and we have elaborated a program aimed at children, youth and people of all ages.
That Cartagena has good film and that citizens have access to films that have not entered into trade channels, said Cabezas.
The Festival will take place from 6 to 13 December in three different scenarios: the cultural center Luzzy Ramón Alonso, CAM and the Classroom Culture Classroom Cajamurcia.
Entry to all screenings is free until all places.
As in previous years, remain the sections of Long, animated stories, documentaries, shorts and MURcine.
In all, eleven films, four documentaries, seven animated stories, twenty-one short of the national section and eight in MURcine (for creations Murcia).
Once the total number of projections have a Spanish label.
Festival director, Esther Baeza, has been influential especially in the sections of documentary and short films, for which they have presented over 150 in competition.
Baeza has highlighted some of the long which can be seen as 'stomach' or 'Class', which have not been released in Spain, and others who, despite having been released, have not gone through commercial channels.
Many of the films screened throughout the week have a long history of awards in other international film festivals.
The aim, according to Baeza, the Cartagena can see quality films and all kinds.
The budget is 150,000 euros, 90% borne by the city of Cartagena, which is making a tremendous effort to make this Festival is continuing in time.
