Territorial del Levante Group of the Association for Heritage Interpretation (AIP) has visited this weekend the city of Cartagena in order to meet the tourist and cultural as well as facilities, means and resources used to enhance understanding and enjoyment of their historical values by the local population and visitors.
The AIP is a nonprofit association that currently comprises more than two hundred professionals from Spain and Latin America.
Its main purpose is to promote the essence of the discipline known as heritage interpretation and its application in the implementation of initiatives aimed at recovery and revaluation of environments and assets.
The enhancement of the historical, cultural and environmental development of a place in the interpretative communication skills essential reference point when approaching the local population and visiting public to know.
These techniques and communication strategies are very sensitive to the importance of stimulating the senses and connect the capital with the experiences and prior knowledge of the visitor.
Another important aspect of this discipline is to invest in the development of a 'culture for all', enhancing the accessibility emotional, intellectual and physical visitors to the estate.
The interest of the AIP for visiting the city of Cartagena and its culture has been raised primarily by the uniqueness of global tourist intervention project in which part (Cartagena Port of Cultures), and the set up of a distinct cultural product other tourist destinations in the city developed from the recovery and adjustment to visit its most important heritage resources.
The visit began in the Punic Wall, where a guide to Cartagena Puerto de Culturas (CPC) met the group and presented broadly the features and elements of the cultural tourism product and the port city.
Shelters later visited the Civil War, where access to the center of Interpretation of the History of Cartagena through a panoramic elevator.
After a stroll through the Parque Torres and contemplate the views of the bay and the Teatro Romano, the group went to the surroundings of the town hall to sample the culinary delights of one of the restaurants in the area.
After dinner was held the working meeting of the Planning Group of the AIP, ending the day with a visit to the new premises of the Roman Theatre Museum.
During the visit, members of the AIP have highlighted the attractiveness and quality of cultural offerings of the city and the great potential of the destination to promote awareness and enjoyment of its ancient history.
