A total of 55 local police officers from different municipalities of the Region of Murcia today and Tuesday participating in a Driver Education Days, organized by the local police school in the Region of Murcia with the support of the Provincial Traffic and City of Cartagena.
This morning, the general director of Local Government, Javier Iniesta, accompanied by the provincial director of Traffic, Francisco Jimenez, and the Director General of Security of the City of Cartagena, Carlos Nieto, presented these days in Cartagena Security Park, which are being developed, and which is intended to inform members of the local police of teaching materials and resources available on road safety and set a common working methodology.
Among the topics covered during these two days, highlighting the role of local police in road safety education and programs designed for different levels of formal education in the field of road safety education for both primary, secondary and adult education.
The course, one of the more than forty of continuing education that have developed in the Regional School is taught by experts from around the country and has aroused great interest among police officers.
The only goal we have, says Iniesta is best to have the local police and our effort is directed to provide the best possible training once they leave the academy.
For its part, the provincial director of Traffic, Francisco Jimenez, has indicated that councils in the Region of Murcia where it is most driver education works.
In fact, more than 45,000 students have received training in the past year by local police.
It is important that agents not only work in monitoring and control but also in road safety education in schools, colleges and playgrounds of traffic, of which there are now eleven in the whole region, two under construction and several more in the pipeline.
Jimenez noted that driver education is the main strategy for reducing traffic accidents, from the 150 killed on the roads in the region three years ago by half this year.
In addition to driver education in this reduction have helped improve road networks and has increased surveillance and traffic control, installing radar and variable message signs.
Traffic provincial director pointed out that the most common violation is speeding, despite being reduced by 2% every year, and not wearing a seat belt and helmet, the distractions and talk on the mobile are in third place, and alcohol, in fourth place.
Jimenez has also indicated that the city of Cartagena will be connected soon to record dots, as will Lorca and Molina de Segura, and as they are those of Yecla and Murcia.

Iniesta has pointed out, for its part, the government's commitment to regional security in Cartagena is firm, with new construction in the park security and the rehabilitation of the headquarters of Los Dolores, with a combined budget of one million euros.
The director general has advanced in the month of December to sign the special agreement for the construction of this new building budget this year.
