The Department of Social Services, through the Municipal Institute of Social Services and Social Work of the Mediterranean Savings Bank organized the week for the Promotion of Autonomy of Older People, which takes place from 17 to 22 November in order to promote among the elderly the idea that they can fend for themselves.
This will involve workshops to improve the quality of sleep, memory, healthy eating and self-esteem as well as lectures on preventing dependency in older people and program reviews of health measures that are developed in various municipalities.
The objective of this program is to maintain a relationship between the elderly, families and youth to generate positive feelings of contentment, serenity and increased self-esteem, and improve health and promote personal autonomy, sought psychological help banish negative stereotypes the aging process.
To close the week for the Promotion of Autonomy of Older People, on Saturday 22 will place the 'March on Intergenerational Pie', which will be attended by about 300 elders and their families and trascurrirá from the Town Hall Square to University , walk past the dock and street Gisbert Alfonso XII.
At the end of the same Social Care Councilman, Antonio Calderon and territorial president of CAN, Angel Martinez, made closing the program and a tribute to Candelaria Sánchez Gómez for her volunteer work with seniors, followed by a lunch in the cafeteria of the university.
