Pilar Barreiro Mayor inaugurated this afternoon the local headquarters of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations and District Cartagena (FAVCAC), located in the old school Our Lady of the Sea (Monroe Crossing Street, Santa Lucia).
Four years ago the city of Cartagena gave this building without application to the Federation.
Since then, the building has enabled and equipped to accommodate the neighborhood movement and currently has six large rooms including an auditorium, a dedicated board, a computer room with 15 computers and other 3 rooms Multi-enabled any kind of training, and other administrative offices.
The venue will also host the Neighborhood School, where courses are offered.
The mayor has indicated that this building will also serve as the center of the glass, becoming a hub of activity very important neighbor and citizen in the neighborhood.
For this, the City Council and the Federation have worked closely together to condition the facility, removing architectural barriers and approved for training, not only of the federation itself but also other entities such as the Redevelopment Agency or the SEF.
For his part, President of the FAVCAC, Leandro Sanchez, said that the headquarters must be a social meeting place and cultural center of the Cartagena area, so that all citizens of Cartagena can dispose of it.
In fact, the first floor houses an exhibition of paintings already.
Sanchez thanked the mayor its commitment to the neighborhood movement, a commitment that has resulted in these facilities.
The Federation of Neighborhood Associations and District Cartagena (FAVCAC) has in his heart to 99 associations, 80 of them in the municipality of Cartagena.
