Social Care Councilman of the City of Cartagena, Antonio Calderon and President of Sodium (Diabetic Society of Cartagena and its surroundings), Federico Sánchez, presented a program of actions of the Seventh Week of Diabetes, held in Cartagena 14 to 20 November on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.
Within this program, there are activities aimed at prevention, such as measurement of blood glucose, Friday 14 November, World Diabetes Day, in a fixed booth will be installed in the Plaza de Juan XXIII all day .
As a matter of interest, we must take into account that 13 percent of the population of Cartagena and its surrounding area have the disease and of these, nearly 30 percent do not know, hence the need for these campaigns go on the street .
It has also organized a charity dinner dance on Saturday to raise funds for the association, and a series of talks and lectures, from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 November on the theme of food and diabetes.
They intervene professionals will give practical advice and the latest advances in cell therapy.
Councilman, Antonio Calderon, has praised the work of associations such as sodium and its commitment for 25 years for the prevention and dissemination of information about a disease like diabetes, being pioneers in the fight against it.
In this line, Federico Sanchez noted pioneer Sodium performances in Spain, including the creation of a protocol to inform teachers about how to proceed in schools with children and adolescents with this disease.
