The Autonomous Community of Murcia restore the environment-Atamaria Portman Road (Calblanque Regional Park), following complaints by ANSE (31/10/2008)

Responsible for the Ministry of Public Works of the Autonomous Region, the Regional Director Calblanque Park, Monte de las Cenizas y Peña del Águila and the Director of ASEAN have held a meeting in Murcia in which government representatives have confirmed that proceed with the restoration of environmental impact in the Park for road construction under the criteria established by the General Directorate of Natural Environment and ANSE.

Councilor José Ballesta amendment and the inaction of the previous director.

Among the actions to be undertaken to restore the area, and also the planting of native plant species, are the steps for the placement of wildlife, proper signage and installation of elements to reduce the speed (thus ending motorcycle racing) and to prevent abuses to the fauna of the park, removing the old asphalt road, slope treatment, etc.

ANSE went last summer to the current Minister of Public Works, Housing and Transport (José Ballesta) asking you to give urgent instructions to begin restoring the area this fall, as they have lost too many years since the environmental recovery should have been initiated .

The works of the MU-314 (Portman Road-Atamaria) were implemented in 2003 through the heart of Regional Park "Calblanque, Monte de las Cenizas y Peña del Aguila" and causing a major impact on protected flora and natural space .

ANSE and allegations of environmental agents showed the works then failed repeatedly Environmental Impact Statement and the Regional Park PORN.

Once completed, the Environmental Impact Statement required the restoration of the area, a fact which was again met by the administration itself.

(BORM n º 101, May 3, 2000).

After several complaints, ANSE made a symbolic planting of protest in 2006 (http://www.asociacionanse.org/noticiero-naturalista/not.asp?idnot=215832), which has had excellent results in the survival and development plants Sabina mora (Tetraclinis articulata) and Mastic (Pistacia lentiscus).

With this symbolic planting was demonstrated that it was possible (and necessary) restoration of the slopes at a reasonable cost, ensuring better conservation of the same long-term public works.
