Social initiatives currently grouped in the Third Sector is facing new challenges, which involve an adaptation of its structure and operation, and even their own strategies.

These challenges have to be in tune with the times experienced by the Third Sector in our country, from his own activity and the changes occurring in our societies, and therefore shared challenges in our field of action.

In this sense, the Third Sector is facing a decisive moment of identity construction of the various challenges facing institutions to continue their interlocutor role, recognition and drive an active and participatory citizenship.

To exercise, in short, as the engine of a democracy capable of representing and exercising the interests of thousands of people who work or are participants of the activities and social projects carried out in our country and our region, in defense of human dignity, especially people with higher levels of vulnerability and social exclusion.

Therefore, the Caja Mediterranean and the Red to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion (EAPN Region of Murcia) have organized this conference, which aim to define what these challenges and the role of NGOs in social policy European, Spanish and in the Region of Murcia, in a special moment as we are living in economic crisis, social insecurity and transformation of social structures towards a multicultural society.
