Encourage entrepreneurship among university Cartagena is the goal that has marked the Bancaja Young Entrepreneurs of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, which will be launched next October 20 in collaboration with the Local Development Agency and City Council Jobs Red Point Cartagena and SME Development Institute of the Region of Murcia.
Its activities will cover the fields of research and training to support and encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a future option.
As explained sources of this Chair, this requires students to change their perceptions about possible career opportunities and learn skills that enable them to develop their entrepreneurial spirit, with creativity, risk taking, leadership, motivation, communication, negotiation and decision-making and planning.
In short: encourage student entrepreneurship by supporting the creation of innovative enterprises and strengthening a culture closer to entrepreneurship.
STUDENTS PREFER TO BE ENTREPRENEURS
The Chair has already conducted a research study on entrepreneurial intentions and patterns of influence on entrepreneurship in college students, reflecting a very positive attitude of students towards entrepreneurship UPCT.
So 45% of students considered to be an entrepreneur means more advantages than disadvantages, 65% say that being an entrepreneur is an attractive career and 76% believe that becoming an entrepreneur he would be a great satisfaction.
Students also prefer a greater extent be owner-manager rather than an employee.
In fact 62% is positioned favorably to the choice of an entrepreneurial career.
This preference is most apparent in male students.
Thus, while 71% of male students prefer the option of starting a business compared to being an employee, in the case of girls this percentage decreases to 55%.
In addition, males have greater faith in their ability to become an entrepreneur female students.
THE INFLUENCE OF ENVIRONMENT
However, when analyzing the intentions of starting a business, the percentage of students who provide professional objective to create your own company decreases to 16%.
A key factor in the entrepreneurial intent is a college student that has been raised in a family whose father or mother is an entrepreneur.

Risk aversion, the tendency to avoid uncertainty and lack of confidence in their abilities, are the main barriers that students perceive to start a business.
