The meeting of the Local Government Board has paid off this morning with the approval of the agenda outside of the signing of an agreement between the municipality and the Ministry of Public Works for the construction of two roundabouts in the municipality of Cartagena in La Manga, the first of which will be at the crossroads at the entrance to La Manga Cabo de Palos, and the second in the Gran Vía at the height of Caballito de Mar, where the junction with the road to Las Salinas.
According to the Town Planning and spokesman for the government team, Joaquín Segado, the idea is to find a solution to traffic jams that occur in La Manga, especially in summer, due to the traffic signals that work today.
With roundabouts look forward to more free-flowing traffic.
Works are scheduled to run during the first quarter 2009 so that both bowers are in full swing at Easter.
On the budget, is about 500,000 euros, of which the Autonomous Community brings more than 300,000 and the city about 185,000 euros.
These roundabouts will join two others which, for a similar budget of around half a million euros, is scheduled to run in 2010.
One will be located at the traffic lights of Puerto Bello, and the last after Estacio bridge, at the height of the hotel Cavanna.
