IU Coordinator Cartagena, Victoria Rodriguez, today reiterated his opposition to the construction of a port for cargo traffic in the Gorguel (Cartagena), and that "affect the preservation of environmental values of the area."
Rodriguez said that this work would cause "irreparable damage" to the protection areas of Community Importance (SCI) and for birds (SPAs) that exist in the Gorguel, and the reclamation project Portman Bay.
He criticized the president of the Port Authority of Cartagena, Angel Adrian, widows' attempts to complete his career with a macro work that does not have the necessary feasibility, "noting that" many organizations, environmental groups and neighborhood associations warn could cause injury. "
For its part, the parliamentary group of IU + Greens tabled a motion in the Regional Assembly that urges the regional government to be directed to the central executive to dismiss the project of construction of that port submitted by the Port Authority .
