IU Coordinator Cartagena, Victoria Rodriguez, today showed concern about the vulnerability of the Mar Menor to climate change and called on regional governments and central implementation of urgent measures to protect this enclave.
Rodriguez recalled that the United Left has repeatedly requested a moratorium on planning for the purpose of protecting the lake, but noted that "the responsible institutions have only been dedicated to ignore the voices of those warning of the deterioration."
Required the regional and central administrations, through agencies and the Commission Cluster Foundation Mar Menor, act "promptly" and to develop initiatives to curb the levels of pollution and degradation in this area.
