The race committee chose for today a couple of windward-leeward courses, both with 2.5 miles away in each of its four sections, marked out the first for a wind of 45 º and amended in the second to an axis 55 degrees.
The wind was blowing between 18-20 knots, while the sea was formed with a long wave trim dotted with wind, wave itself, but the guard that partially eased the coast offered some effect.
Things began with the offline sung in Swedish and Russian Valars Artemis, who had to go back and start again.
And that the Artemis began a remarkable comeback, fourteen, ninth, eighth and third at the finish.
But it was the rascal who and scored the victory.
The first stage was dominated by Ono followed by the CXG Caixa Galicia and Rogue, who took the lead during the second beat and was increasing his advantage until the arrival.
Spanish I lost two bellows, and Gallegos finished fourth while Ono fell to tenth place.
The Matador Argentinian had patience to gradually improve its fifth place after the first leg, crossing the arrival after the leader, and surviving to the recovery of Artemis.
Interestingly, despite an acceptable first leg in eighth position, the Swedish Artemis did not have the "punch" above, and even lost post until the arrival, while his main rival and the season, the Quantum omino all the way, in most problems the last role in the final downwind Platoon allowed to enter with less than a length ahead.
Third was the rascal, who knew how to suffer to improve his first step fifth float, despite the troubles of the last downwind leg, suffering a problem with their spinnaker, lower it and hoist a new one, allowing the challenge to come dangerously close.
Both tests combined Rogue stands as the first leader in the Region of Murcia Trophy, with a couple and points on the Quantum and four on the Matador.
With Artemis Platoon fifth and sixth, the four "musketeers" Circuit Audi MeCup 2008 confirm his claims to victory, but there are still many miles and the fish is not sold out.
Quotes:
Ross Macdonald, tactician Knave: "Today was a complicated field, shifty, gusty and the waves of different wind direction.
Handling the boat was hard and if the wind increased to 23-24 knots tomorrow, as they say, can be very spectacular.
Almost none of us had sailed here before and we will clarify further.
We are trying to keep as much as possible, especially if there are days with more than 20 knots, because many people have problems and quickly grow old sails. "
Guillermo Parada, Matador pattern: "It's a good start, especially since it's a brilliant sail, we made many mistakes and still were able to save good jobs and have a good position overall.
I have not sailed in these windy conditions, made mistakes and my starts were not very good so I have to review the books a bit and remember, but if we can solve this, we are confident.
The boat is going well and we have many new sails.
It is a difficult, yet with enough wind had rolled and kept many options open until the last minute.
On the other side to be as profound for the race committee and roles is difficult.
With both markers move out fairly.
Must be taken into account when the outputs.
But we like to ride the wind and depend on us to do well. "
