The Andalusian Rocío Guerra won the first prize in the fifteenth edition of Spanish Song Festival Derribao Mill, which has developed in this area of Cartagena during the past weekend.
A total of fourteen participants from many different locations across Spain, vied for the top five, with prize money ranging from 3,000 and 600 euros.
The lorquina Marisol Segura managed to grab fourth place in this traditional competition.
The Festival also benefited from the presence of singers Juan de Juanes, on August 22, and Antonio Carrión, Miguel de Tena and Rubito Son, the latter two mining lamp at the Festival Internacional de Cante de las Minas de La Union on 23 August.
Councillor of Celebration, Florentina Garcia Vargas, was in charge on Friday night to give the opening speech of the inaugural Festival, and awarded a Gold Mill Councilman Isaiah Camarzana, president of the neighborhood association for many years Derribao Mill .
But the kick-off of the Festival took place on Saturday 16 August, also at 22.30 hours, with an opening gala that included the presence of Paquita Torres, winner of the 2007 edition, as well as Gema Jiménez and Mawy comedian.
The event had a budget of 43,000 euros, more than half of them provided by the Department of Celebrations of the City of Cartagena.
