The attractions of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas recorded a 23% increase in visitors during the first six months of this year than the same period in 2007, with a total of 130,024 visitors compared to 105,966 last year.
The most notable increase occurred during the month of July, coinciding with the opening of the Museo del Teatro Romano.
This month, the Puerto de Culturas consortium has had 41,419 visitors, compared with 23,690 who registered in July 2007, which meant 75% more visits.
The most visited sites and museums during the month of July have been the Museum and the Roman Theatre, with 29% of visitors, the Lift Pan and the catamaran, with 19% and the Castillo de la Concepción, with 10% of total visitors.
This month, 48% of visitors came from places outside the Region of Murcia, 36% of foreign countries and 16% inside the region.
During the first half, also in July, March and May have been the most number of visitors have taken the interpretive centers and museums in Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.
Finally, the consortium points out that tickets to visit the Museum and the Roman Theatre are available from any of the museums and interpretive centers that Cartagena Puerto de Culturas has spread throughout the city.
