The Local Government of the City of Cartagena has approved a proposal by the Councillor, Joseph Marotta, a comprehensive package of performance-over 40 - to improve the quality of education in the municipality.
These initiatives include programs of theater, music, driver education, social skills, intercultural and parents schools and calls for aid and grants for university transportation, school libraries, parents associations and schools.
The economic pillar of all educational programs for the first quarter of the school year (October to December 2008) amounted to 114,126.19 euros, and while the amount for grants amounting to 48,800 euros.
In total, some 163,000 euros.
The main innovation of next year will be the implementation of a classroom for the prevention and control of absenteeism, through an agreement with the Ministry of Education.
In this class we will try to specific occupational training to those young recidivist truants.
Will seat about 15 students and is located attached to a school or college in the city.
