The City of Cartagena, in collaboration with the Spanish Catholic Migration Commission (ACCEM) has carried out the relocation of 35 migrants from sub-Saharan origin living in subhuman conditions in a ship of Coto Dorda.
According to sources explained to the Department of Social Services, the said vessel is between Sagittarius and Gemini streets of Concepcion neighborhood.
Its owner had divided internally and had long rented rooms and beds for immigrants.
The place had grown into a settlement of sub-Saharan Africans were overcrowded and in poor conditions.
The situation worsened a few days ago when the owner got them off the water for non-payment of rent for the beds, since many of them were unemployed.
Upon learning of this situation the council of Social Care and ACCEM sought a place to relocate the migrants, referred to other shelters, floors received from other provinces and municipal centers.
He has also acted in the case the Department of Environmental Discipline Hall, where you have taken the appropriate steps in such a situation, directing its owner to cease the activity and the decommissioning of the Coto Dorda within five days because it lacked the appropriate license and the precarious conditions in which immigrants maintained.
The sources of the Department of Social Services have said they will continue to work to support individuals and groups in situations of social risk and foster greater coordination between social partners and public authorities responsible for social integration policies.
